On October 12th Stoicon-X Hannover is seeing its fourth run.
With this year´s title “Philosophy.Politics” we are very happy to have economist and philosopher Tino Deckert as speaker, who will has recently published new editions of German translations of Epictetus´s discourses, and the works of Musonius Rufus.
In the first part of the event, Tino Deckert will give a historical impression of the society and politics of first century Rome, and compare individual responses by Epictetus and Musonius Rufus from a Stoic point of view.
After a short break participants will be able to discuss the challenges of democracy in the present and how Stoic positions might offer help or advice how to deal with them.
The in-person event will take place from 2:30-5:45 pm at Humanistischer Verband Niedersachen, Otto-Brenner-Strasse 20, D-30159 Hannover, Germany.
