Stoic Week is a free, annual online event where people around the world spend seven days living like a Stoic.
Whether you’re entirely new to Stoicism or have taken part before, this is your chance to deepen your practice, boost your wellbeing, and join a global community exploring what it means to live wisely.
Who is Stoic Week for?
- Beginners curious about applying Stoicism to daily life
- Returners who’ve benefited before and want a renewed challenge
- Facilitators or study groups wishing to run Stoic Week together (contact us for our new Facilitator’s Resource Guide)
- Anyone seeking greater calm, purpose, and meaning in turbulent times
If you’ve found Stoic Week valuable in the past, please pay it forward by sharing this article or the registration link with friends, family, colleagues—or your study or therapy group.
Why take part?
Our data from over 40,000 participants show consistent, meaningful benefits for those who complete Stoic Week.
Based on before-and-after wellbeing questionnaires, participants in 2024 experienced on average:
- Reduced negative emotions – sadness, anger and fear (all −18%)
- Increased positive emotions – joy (+13%) and contentment (+12%)
- Improved wellbeing – life satisfaction (+13%), sense of flourishing (+10%)
Participants often report feeling calmer, more purposeful, and better able to handle life’s ups and downs.
As one commented:
“I am calmer and accept many disagreeable things with good spirits. I’m not so easily hurt.”
What to expect
Each day focuses on a Stoic theme—such as the Dichotomy of Control, Virtue, or Resilience—and includes:
- A short daily reading from the Stoic Week Handbook
- A video introduction to the day’s topic
- Morning and evening reflections to apply Stoic ideas in practice
- Optional journaling exercises and community discussion
Even 20 minutes a day can bring meaningful benefits.
What’s new for 2025
Building on feedback from last year, Stoic Week 2025 introduces several exciting enhancements:
- New, shorter validated SABS Scale – with 7 dimensions, so you can assess your level of Stoicism more accurately, before and after Stoic Week
- A concise Quick Start Guide
- Improved handbook materials based on participant feedback
- A comprehensive Facilitator’s Guide for groups, classrooms, or organisations
- Plus recent innovations retained:
- Original illustrations by Artem Pendyurin (@ErBlack)
- The STOIC Framework – a five-step reflection tool: Stop, Time Out, Observe, Identify, Choose – a Stoic evolution of CBT’s STOPP technique
- Downloadable Word versions of the handbooks for accessibility
Why it matters
Stoic Week is run by Modern Stoicism, a non-profit organisation of philosophers, psychologists, and CBT practitioners dedicated to applying ancient Stoic wisdom to modern wellbeing.
