Keynote speaker Tim Lebon is an accredited CBT therapist working in the NHS and in private practice. He is a founding member of Modern Stoicism and is its director of research, and he is responsible for running Stoic Week. Tim’s books include 365 Ways to Be More Stoic, Wise Therapy, and Achieve Your Potential with Positive Psychology. His website is timlebon.com.
Becky Schmooke is founder of Amor Fati Consulting and Becky’s Mindful Kitchen. She provides action-based mindfulness and leadership training through retreats, workshops, private classes, and summer camps for kids. Becky has worked with teams in healthcare, corporate, first responders and the NFL, along with providing free workshops on mental health and leadership to teens. By blending ancient Stoic wisdom with modern science, Becky teaches how to turn obstacles into opportunities and mindfulness into action. Find her at beckysmindfulkitchen.com.
Scott Corey is a seasoned clinician with over a decade of experience. He began his professional career in a secure psychiatric facility treating people ages 4-80 for a vast array of mental health disorders and symptomatic behaviors. For the past 4 years Scott has been committed to a role in guiding around 200 people professionally on their daily journey through methadone treatment for opiate use disorder. Scott is a fierce advocate in the fight against mental health/addiction stigma, especially when it comes to treatment.
Simon Drew is an Australian poet, musician, public philosopher and co-founder of The Walled Garden Philosophical Society—a global organisation dedicated to bringing world-class philosophers together with seekers on the common path toward truth, wisdom, virtue and the Divine. Most widely known for his work as the host of the Practical Stoic Podcast, Simon has been spreading Stoicism around the world since 2017. Lisa Avery is a positive psychologist who uses the science of optimal human functioning to empower individuals, teams and organisations to personal and professional success. Her past projects have involved the design and/ or delivery of interventions to clients in Education, Government, the NHS, charities, and the corporate world. She holds a master’s degree in Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology.
Alison McCone is accredited in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis, has a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and Psychological Studies, and a Diploma in Addiction. In the past she worked as a stoma care advisor for Bristol-Myers Squibb and now works with groups and individuals in various settings, including at Fighting Words, where everyone has the right to write. She has participated in many Modern Stoicism events and has written articles for Stoicism Today.
Trevor Munro-Clark is a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist, with over 30 years experience working within the NHS, both in his home country of New Zealand and in the UK. He has considerable experience applying CBT and other therapy modalities, including CFT, DBT, EMDR, and schema therapy, to a broad range of clinical presentations. He has also provided supervision and teaching in both the NHS and private and charitable sectors. He has engaged in a Stoic-CBT supervision group for the past 4 years, incorporating Modern Stoicism and general clinical supervision principals regarding self-reflection and wellbeing in private practice.
Paul Wilson is a former head of community mental health services and strategic lead for the prevention of mental health issues and the promotion of wellbeing in disadvantaged communities. One of his mental health services won a national award while others were recognised in the UK parliament. Paul now works as the head of staff wellbeing at a UK university, where he promotes preventative practice, psychological safety, self-care and a culture of wellbeing. Stoicism is his preferred form of self-care.
Eve Riches is a mentor and teacher working across disability employment support, Stoicism and Psychology teaching, mentoring looked after children and promoting disability equality. She is particularly focused on improving emotional resilience and applying Stoicism to everyday life. Eve runs a monthly Stoicism online learning group and research project with the nonprofit Modern Stoicism organisation, where she is a steering committee member. She is also an advisor to the Aurelius Foundation and co-founder of Stoicare.
Brittany Polat is a philosophical writer and practitioner of Stoicism as a way of life. She is a co-founder of Stoicare, a steering committee member for Modern Stoicism, and a board member of The Stoic Fellowship. Her most recent book is Journal Like a Stoic: A 90-Day Stoicism Program to Live with Greater Acceptance, Less Judgment, and Deeper Intentionality. Brittany holds a Ph.D. in applied linguistics but currently writes about Stoic psychology and philosophy at her Substack, Stoicism for Humans.
